heni30
Hi, I was wondering iF Evermotion Archinteriors is a good learning tool as far as seeing first-hand how lighting was set up; how materials were created; etc. In theory it seems like it would be a dream come true - seeing this amazing image and being able to dissect it and see and understand how it was done. Are they really this valuable a learning resource?............before I spend any money. Edited May 11, 2010 by heni30
braddewald
I have nothing but good things to say about evermotion products. They're also available at the cgarchitect shop, which makes things even better because you don't have to deal with overseas payment methods. While there are many obvious advantages that come with the Archinteriors volumes, it should be noted that sometimes evermotion uses crazy weird render settings and material settings. While these values usually work, reverse engineering may not be the best idea in certain circumstances. Render settings are so scene-specific that its hard to just "copy" them over to another file. That being said, if you're on the ledge as to whether or not to buy, it would do it just for the models and vray materials settings.
andstef
I had the opportunity, on several occasions, to look at some scenes form archinteriors, there were some of the first volumes, and, as Bradley sad, the settings are weird and "too scene-specific". When I tried to use the same settings, all I got were some unexpected low quality results, or ridiculous long render times, and sometimes both. Knowing the settings alone, in my opinion, isn't that productive, or does not help at all, if you don't know the reason why they were used. I learned, and with time developed a workfolw, by watching/reading free tutorials on the web. From what I see, most of the objects used in archinteriors scenes are on the archmodels volumes as well, so if I were to choose, I would choose archmodels. p.s. I would be very happy if someday one would have the possibility to buy each model separately, and not the whole volume
braddewald
The scenes do, I should point out, contain great information on lighting setups. Some scenes you'll open up and think, "no way, they did this all with just two vray plane lights!?" So it's not that the scenes have no value. p.s. I would be very happy if someday one would have the possibility to buy each model separately, and not the whole volume Also, most models are sold separately. If you are browsing a volume they usually show up in a gallery-style panel right there below the volume info.
Jeff Mottle
Thanks for the plug Bradley. Just an FYI that while we currently only have the Archmodels collections listed online, we can order anything for you in the interim. Cheers, Jeff

HamburgerTrain
The Maya ones they had were a rip-off. The geo was not clean and was not visible in refractions or reflections. A lazy import via obj I suspect. However they're probably decent in Max as it is the native app these scenes are setup in. Just a warning.
