BALTIMORE, Maryland, March 1, 2004 – Avatech Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: AVSO.OB), the recognized leader in design and engineering technology for the manufacturing, building design and engineering markets, today announced a call for entries to its 3rd annual rendering contest. Avatech is accepting submissions from the areas of architecture, manufacturing/mechanical and civil/GIS, as well as from students. Interested applicants are invited to submit as many images as they wish by April 16, 2004. This year, Avatech will choose a winner for each category. In addition, the grand prize winner will be awarded a Carnival cruise line certificate for $2,000 that can be used as they wish. Category winners will each receive a $250 gift certificate from Amazon.

Entries must be created using one or more of the following products: Autodesk VIZ (or 3D Studio VIZ), 3ds max (or 3D Studio MAX), Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD or any AutoCAD-based solutions. Judging is based on technical skill required, degree of difficulty, photo-realism and aesthetics. "Visualization forms better understanding of design intent, helping realize the full value of CAD data by creating realistic representations of products, parts and buildings," said Scotty Walsh, CEO at Avatech Solutions. "By awarding prizes in each category, we're looking forward to receiving even more spectacular images from top innovators nationally than ever before."

Hi,

This competition looked good until I read the rules, a few things worry me!

3. All material submitted will become the sole property of Avatech Solutions Subsidiary, Inc. and will not be returned.

11. By entering the Contest, entrants give Avatech the right to publish, license, copy, modify, use, or distribute the submission, in whole or in part, for any purpose, or to authorize others to do the same, without notice or compensation to the entrant. If a submission contains an image of a person or any other identifying material, the submission must be accompanied by a release by that party, allowing Avatech to publish, license, copy, modify, use, or distribute the submission, in whole or in part, for any purpose, or to authorize others to do the same, without notice or compensation, which release must be satisfactory to Avatech, in the exercise of its sole discretion. 11. I suppose if you are happy to hand over your images to someone to market as they wish, the competition is good, I on the other hand are not happy with this arrangement. Sorry I dont mean to knock the competition, I just think it is good to read the rules first!.

And so it is with almost ALL competitions. Sad, I might like to enter one or two. But I'm not giving up rights to anything. You will also see that most 'giveaways' hosted by corporate America contain various releases. If nothing else, they require you give a valid address, etc. If they can collect a few million viable contacts that data is worth a lot of money just by itself. Why hand over your personal info for a lowlevel chance at some prize?
