Tommy L
So you cant buy models, you cant model it already, you cant learn to do it, and you dont have much time....and you have someone who's going to pay you to do it?
BVI
I've found a few obscure models on sketchup warehouse - give it a whirl. Makehuman might also be of some use here: http://makehuman.blogspot.com/

sygboe
can you easily change the clothes they wear? and ammend the texture colours of the clothes, then import into max? can you re-pose the figures inside max? or will it be a solid mesh? as max has cloth and rigging, are there any default characters available to amend? Dave Buckley
can you easily change the clothes they wear? and ammend the texture colours of the clothes, then import into max? can you re-pose the figures inside max? or will it be a solid mesh? as max has cloth and rigging, are there any default characters available to amend? depends which characters you use. max doesn't have any default characters per se but if you look on the samples disc there are some really good business people, these are fully rigged and poseable using CAT in Max or biped depending on which version you use. Obviously you don't want businessmen/women but having a rigged character is half the battle all you would need to do is redress them? Manequins don't need face details do they? as far as i'm aware characters are normally a solid mesh, it's the rigging and skinning of the mesh to the bones that allows it to move as a character. if you are lucky enough to find a character dressed ready for a kick-about then you should get the texture map with it which i would imagine would be a flat UV layout, i guess you could take that into Photoshop and do a bit of colour adjustment to change the kit? anyway would be interested to hear what you work out when/if you do i could be wrong with all of the above, thats just my vague understanding of characters which like you, isn't exactly a strong point for me
Jim Mann
I would use poser I second that. I did an animation for Umbro a few years ago and we needed white painted mannequins so I turned for the one and only time to Poser and it worked a treat. You can buy outfits for them as well so you can customize to a degree. Lets face it, most of the poser stuff looks like shop dummies anyway, its perfect! sygboe
@Jim i've noticed that you can buy poser 7 for about 60 dollars. was this the version you used? do you know if you can re-pose the figures once inside max? also, can you make them quite low poly (to be replaced). I did manage to get a good figure from Daz, but it far too high poly.
