LuckyST
I'm interested if there's a way to populate a 3d object with other objects, and animate the "children" in a way that they point from their default direction, to a common direction. such as hair on a person? BrianKitts
You'd be referring to a "look-at" constraint. But keep in mind in most cases you'll want to restrict the constraint to a specific axis (or multiple axis) Great tutorial from Louis Marcoux covering exactly this (scoll to the Feb 8th 2007 video) http://www.louismarcoux.com/MaxTips.htm
LuckyST
you are my hero keeping my fingers crossed that this helps. p.s. that's one great site.
LuckyST
thanks, but I want it be possible for multiple objects, that by default key A) point in different directions. key B) point in uniform direction (parallel) (in my case upwards). I see how that could be brute forced with this technique, but I'm hoping for a more elegant solution)
JonRashid
Surely if your look at controller is far enough away the parallel effect could be achieved. The distance may have to be very great but that shouldn't be a problem. You can use scatter with a master object to achieve the "default" mode. BrianKitts
If you want them all parallel just assign one object the look at constraint, and parent the rotation of all the others to match the primary object.
JonRashid
Nice, I like that one.
