mbr
I had Wes Jones back in school and our project was 'moving architecture'. He has done some very interesting work. Take a look: http://www.jonespartners.com/ Also is Calatrava, a pure artistic genius and one of the best out there today, imho: http://www.calatrava.com/ He's designing the transit center at the WTC. xgarcia
Hey Markus, Wes Jones' website is really irritating to navigate. When are they going to redesign? moreless - check out calatrava's bridges. Awesome stuff.
William Alexander
hey, It's good to see this wonderful design recgonized, even though it's in Milwaukee. Not generally known for it's architecture. A little off topic... the mechanical / scupltural aspects of the sun shades are incredible. Equally is the design. One that can evoke mental images, thoughts and dreams of ships, soaring birds, sails and maritime history. You can actually sense the feel and scale of being on a pier along side a ship, to the extent that you want to touch the building to see if the feeling is real. You move out onto Lake Michigan emotionally as you were going out to sea. The pictures do the design justice, but to experience the structure in person is really something! I'm 15 minutes away and frequently drive by and unfortunately do not get much of a change to experience the building and the art displayed with in. But I'm still in awe of that first experience and how the building presents it's self. moreless, I have a tree chair design from college that actually functioned. Vertical swinging arms that connected to a stacked pivoting base section. Really kind of intersting. If you have any interest I have a max model and a couple simple Illustrations. The portfolio stuff was lost and the chair itself... lets say people thought I was really strange for keeping it around. For what it may be worth... William Alexander
moreless, Concept came from Seating in / of Nature Design was based on, obviously a tree. When younger, found many really comfortable trees to hang out in..... The furniture designed is fully adjustable, so you too can achieve sitting comfortably in a Tree Chair http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=TC1.jpg http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=TC3.jpg If you want to use these images OK. Any questions and such, feel free to drop an e-mail. rgrds WDA
