mzagorski
Ernest, ya hit the nail on the head: AutoCAD has sold units into the millions? Probably not sold, but I bet millions have been pirated!
Kerry Thompson
Hi When I was selling AutoCAD in the mid 90s, they sold their 2,000,000th copy. Note this covers all versions, includes LT and is across all disciplines , but does not upgrades. I would say now they are looking towards 4,000,000 copies now and I am sure that there as many pirate versions out there. Included in this are someting like 400,000 ADT licenses but I would say few are used to their potential. I guess with those numbers, a market strategy that is evolutionary (ADT) rather that revolutionary (Revit) would be more in order. There is a lot of knowledge and experience in AutoCAD out there. Users do not just walk away from that and I think we will see AutoCAD included with AutoDesk AEC products for a long time to come, even if it is given away with Revit?
