I changed mine because I was tired of the marriage proposals. :p

It's a shame too. The other one was so scary I think it cost you some ratings stars. eek2.gif If Richard's ever wondered why he's a 2-star general, maybe it's because his avatar looks like the clown from "It". Scary, scary, scary...

Had I known you were accepting marriage proposals...oh, heck, that won't work, you are already married, and for that matter, so am I. And neither of us live in Utah.

I even have the two kids of my own, but no minivan! Not even a stationwagon! But you can only get five in my Jeep, so next has to be a seven person car (I can still only dream of the Bimmer, and my father drives a wreck). But no minivans! No, I resist! I will buy the new ugly-as-sin Vo-vo SUV. It's a padded cell on wheels. Keep those kids safe.

Oh, come on Fran, there are so few women here that we need a little visual reminder of the true beauty in this world. Given the choice of looking at a woman or some cups, I would take the former anyday.

Well this discussion is headed downhill, with me pulling the sled. It feels like a Friday in the US, forgive us.

well... avatars... people like them so much...

I wonder why...

imho other members can get so stuck with an image so that eventually a totally different person is thought behind it... which can be extremely awful once you meet the people irl (in real life...)

Some images are neutral... But an image can be so happy that we might forget there is a person with real feelings behind... Or the other way around...

I even do realise - unfortunately I must say - that I don't answer in the same atmosphere to posts of people with a 'nice' or a 'distracting' avatar... This is a huge problem that I can't deny... I simply dislike 'people' with a technically bad avatar as I got a feeling that there not all focused to do things good... al this without knowing them of course!!!

Imho, this is worse than to critisize people on first sight... that's why I don't use it...

The aid in constructing a mental image of oneself is (to me!) so distracting, I'd rather not use the possibility...

(But I do wonder what mental image you got of me, without the avatar...)

Although avatars are a good idea to gather a lot of marriage proposals... lol!

Well I will admit to a similar dislike of 'handles' or online names, Evert. That is why I have never used anything but my own name on-line, even in the UseNet Photoshop forum, which is plagued by childish behaviour and endless bickering (so I don;t go there much anymore). I find people feel free to behave in ways they would never even consider if they didn't have a mask on.

And on your first point--can you post a list of the technically bad avatars vs. the good ones? I need to know where I stand with you. I guess I will not use my hopping tubeguy avater, then.

That reminds me of my days on mIrc... To many people getting into someone elses skin... one can only imagine what people were into these days...

Internet IRL-meetings: scary as hell!

That's why I'd like to meet Inet people asap! ;)
