xgarcia
CGNetworks previews MAX 6 I think I see one of Fran's images btw - http://www.cgnetworks.com/story_custom.php?story_id=1705&page=2 . Way to go Fran!
Fran
Hi Xavier, Thanks for the alert. Too bad I didn't watermark that image.
xgarcia
Probably would have been cropped anyhow (the watermark I mean). Nice work as always Fran.
schmoron13
is that even legal? if you put a watermark on, don't they HAVE to show it?
xgarcia
Probably...my comment about cropping was facetious. I'm not making accusations about Discreet.
schmoron13
lol, xgarcia, I'm not incinuating anything... though I am surprised that fran wasn't even aware that her pics were put up. How does this work exactly? Does discreet, or any other company have the right to put any pics of their users on their website, or is there some kickback/perks? also, how does the consumer know what they're seeing is legit? Even the most naive don't believe what they see isn't photoshoped/touched-uped/etc. so it seems a bit missleading to show it in progs...though in this case, it's texture baking which just affects rad calcs, right? (i'm not very familiar with it)... oh and I forgot to mention: CONGRATS FRAN!!!
xgarcia
I think b/c Fran likes to post at the VIZ newsgroup, some kinda user agreement allows Autodesk / Discreet to glean images form the newsgroup and use at will. Only my guess.
Fran
It looks like they just culled the images from Discreet's Max 6 image gallery. BTW, my render had nothing to do with the Render to Texture feature. It was also a very early test render that I would rather not have publisized. Only my guess. Hi Xavier, No, that is not the case at all. Discreet had my full cooperation in using that image. CGNetworks.com did not, and I wonder if they asked the person who did the building render on their home page for permission...
xgarcia
Ahhh...I thought you were referring to discreet the whole time. Thx for clearing that up.
