nisus
Hi all, I've just seen a remarkable presentation where the visualisation bureau claimed to use a maxscript for great sketched output in 3d! It is not like a photoshop-filter but a real 3d-plugin/script so you could use it for animation as well. The output looked very much like the output of Sketch-up (http://www.sketchup.com) Does anyone knows a plugin/script for max like that? I couldn't find anything on scriptspot yet. rgds nisus
Voo
I've never seen anything, but I am very interested. Do you know any other information about it?
nisus
Hi all, I noticed I've posted this topic twice. So I deleted one and copied Jeff's comment. *** Hey Nisus, Not sure, but try Ilustrate http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/IllustrateForMax/Illustrate51.htm Jeff Mottle CGarchitect.com
nisus
Hi voo, Actually I don't have any information on it. I believe it is in-house software. Very impressive I must say, because it had a few images that were really really nice. Like I said it resembled the loo kof sketchup and some really great roughs (marker drawings). The guy representing the firm said the script automatically extends edges (to have those nice sketched corners) and that you had control of how far it should extend these lines. It also got line-weight control AND could be used in an animation as well! Really amazing results speaking as I've been watching devellopments in this sector for a few years allready! So if anyone got more information on it to Jeff: it's not the same as illustrate, because it was not a cartoonstyle. Rather a mix-up between the sketup-output and some piranesi-sketches (by the software, not the guy) Anyone knows a tutorial for basic maxscripting on THIS topic? Like changing the look and feel of a render? I'd be pleased to find out so I can script one myself rgds nisus
plastic
if you want to learn maxscript check out the MXS forum @ support.discreet.com, and the maxscript helpfile, its a great resource. the problem i see with developing such a plugin/script is not knowing the programming language (because thats very easy) but having good vector math skills & MUCH free time. here is a good sketch render plugin, but i think its not exactly what you're looking for: http://www.reyes-infografica.net/npr1_p.php regards, marc http://plugins.marclorenz.com
nisus
Hi mark, I've studied the helpfile the great book 'Maxscript & the SDK for 3d studio max' and many other scripts allready, but I don't know how to write 'imagebased'-scripts, i.e. scripts to arrange pixels like a photoshop-plugin. Pls let me know if you know a good source rgds nisus ps: your link to infografica did not work ;-((
