Richard McCarthy
Very nice stuff Kaomr I like the block view, it shows the massing of the building nicely, and the flow and schematic are shown very concisely. The textured model part is nice too, "but", in my opinion, the cars should go. it's a bit distracting....and give rise to the question.."why is it only one car there.... why not a lot more".. I understand it's the engine limitation to display more cars.. so I hold the philosophy of "either do it with more and better.. or not do it at all". Since you use billboard trees, I recommend you to drop in a few billboard people too, to show the context of the building in relation to human scale. Another thing I found is.. to use Quad-tree method. Don't use "billboard" (always facing view) tree, put 2 planes of tree in "X" format, and it saves the CPU cycles from processing and re-aligning the trees with the view. One last thing, the 3D texture view doesn't have any navigation button or set view, I found it hard to navigate (flying with up and down key and mouse... isn't very intuitive) I can't fly to the ground level for some reason, like there is a glass ceiling of some sort... you should ALWAYS include on screen button to fly to all the views you wanna show. (maybe even include view path animation) -RM
kaomr
hi Richard ! (i'd try the live chat cu there ) Thanks for your reply...well.. about cars i'm far from the engine display limitation with only 26000 faces! there is two cars just for fun..i agree with you "better more or not at all" ..later i'll drop an animated flow of cars and bus (like the tram) and some people. Trees are more probable in "billboard" than "x"format in the ground level view ...YES! there's one and even a view path animation: try "C" key to switch between the top and bottom and "T"for path animation.. maybe only 10 sec for the help text is'nt enough ( bottom left side of the screen at the start of the 3D visit sceen) .There is no such navigation button in the visit 3D : the purpose is a "full immersion" screen (video-game like). hope this help Best regards KO
