DennisB
I posted a PSP version of a Painting Foliage Textures (for terrain models) tutorial over the weekend. The advantage of the PSP tutorial, assuming anyone's interested, is the evaluation version of PSP is fully functional whereas the Painter version won't let you save. The tutorial is fairly brief. It's based on a Bryce render with Poser dogs using an overhead or oblique POV with foliage textures mapped to terrain models. The approach should be sustainable in animation, but I haven't tried it. Anyway, here's the link for anyone that's interested. http://www.gardenhose.com/PaintTextures_PSP8.htm Dennis@DigArts PS. Thanks to Randy for posting the correct author on the Anatomy of Trees book. DennisB
Per this thread, I've noticed that the Painter 8 upgrade version is under $80. That's a very good price, particularly now that the 8.1 patch is available for download. I also understand it comes as a hybrid CD containing Mac and Win versions (unconfirmed). I used CNET's shopping search, so give that a try. Whether you use Painter for our stuff or not, it has a lot to offer for anyone working in 3D. The tiling brush strokes, bump tools and rotating brushes are pretty much unmatched and make for excellent, seamless surface texturing. This is the upgrade price, but Photoshop users (v. 6-8 as I recall) qualify for it. Finally, we have no association with Corel. This is a FYI only.
