I'm not using Max 6 or mental ray so i dont know how useful are the tutorials that ship with it. But i know that those for radiosity in max 5.0 worth more as toilet paper, as does radiosity itself...

Try www.evermotion.org forum, they have a lot of experienced users who write tutorials, every week there is a new tutorial or a model, and you can even request a tutorial.

there is also a good GI example scene that comes with the max6 installation disks from the guys over at kdlab

here's the endresult :

As always, the tutorials that ship with max will learn you the basic UNDERSTANDING of the program, in this case MR. For that reason, the tuts are great.

If you are looking for tutorials that focus on WORKFLOW, the tuts suck badly!

Imho, most tutorials ONLY focus on a specific problem and thus become completely unuseful in a production pipeline...

I've given up hope to look for such tutorials, I search for my own workflow-enhancements instead...

yes nisus I agree,

the tuts you find online and come with max6 are good for starters

but they will get you on your way enough to find your own setup and a faster and better workflow.

imexp : everybody has their own way of doing things, so if there even where any good tuts about workflow in MR you would have to take out -just the same way- the stuff that will help you and your scene you're working on...

i guess we'll have to settle for good old sweat, tears and alot of testtime :D

however i must say looking around in forums did speed up things alot, so all things considerd : i'm not really complaining dude.
