photographing textures

Has anyone made an arrangement for photographing materials to make textures? I'm very concerned about tiling caused by bad (uneven) lighting. (I want to keep post processing down to a minimum). Does anyone know how to create photography setup where all the lighting is even, no gradients, on say a 2' x 2' sample? I'd like to avoid buying professional photography equipment, however, I'm unsure if there's a hardware store equivalent.

 

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

- Shoot your images on an overcast day to avoid harsh shadows

- Overlay inversed images for color and luminance matching

- use the offset filter and the healing/stamp tool

I wish I could shoot outside, but I can't. Basically, I need to know how to create a good interior lighting set up.
