Tim Nelson
I was reading the FAQ on Vray and it stated that it is not gauranteed to work with VIZ4. Are any of you using this software combo. and if so, do you have problems with it? I'm just trying to find out what this means so I can look at the best rendering option for my VIZ. thanks! Da_RoCk
I have a vray demo version and currently running on viz 4. the thing that bugs me is the vray logo that is shown in the rendering. Its ok and it works. By the way, do you have an idea on how to get rid of that logo?
xgarcia
The logo is part of the demo. It goes away when you buy the full version (basic or advanced). Xavier
Dynedain
the other way to get rid of the logo is to switch to Vray Free...but that has a much more limited feature set
Chad Warner
Been using Vray with Viz 4 for a few months now, no problems with the two working together. -Chad
mauarduz
to me Vray is the best renderer out there, by far
stefkeB
VRay doesn't like: - default raytrace shadows (use VRayShadow) - Raytrace materials & maps (use VRayMap) - VIZ4-radiosity (avoid it when using VRay) Other then that, it works fine. I use the free version in VIZ3 &

No point using them together (it doesn't work nor sound reasonable). [] Rick
Psychoscorpic
Hi there. I just tried installing VRAY-free into VIZ4, but get "unable to initialise" errors on startup. I unzipped the 4 files into STDPLUGINS folder, where I found similar file extentions. Tried both the For Max3 and For Max 4/5 versions. What am I doing wrong here? quizzy
Maybe reading the installation notes helps.....
stefkeB
VRay free has two files: - VRay40.dll which ends up inside the main VIZ folder (where "3dsviz.exe" is located) - VRender40.dlr inside it's own VRayFree folder underneath VIZ if you add "VRay=C:\Program Files\Autodesk VIZ 4\VRayFree\" to the plugin.ini file, but it might as well be placed inside the stdplugins or the plugins folder and then it doesn't need this line in the plugin.ini) No other files are required. You have to use the max4-version. The installation program does all this for you.
