jucaro
Assuming that you own both viz4 and max5: What's the difference between the Design Extensions (requires subsription of $390 annualy) for Max and installing the VIZ copy tool for max5(free downloadable)? Both give MAX5 the same capabilities as from what I have read from articles. I guess, Autodesk never runs out of ideas to milk the consumers. John Dollus
No, the Viz copy tools only allow you to read and render Viz4 files in Max but you are limited in what parameters you can change in Max. The Design Extension is fully functional.
bedhes
one thing that i know of is the viz design tools (free downloadable) will add the "file link manager" capabilities to max5

MegaPixel
I own both MAX 5.1 with Design Extension and VIZ 3. Basically, the Design Extension gives MAX the ability to do the things which once made VIZ a unique package. Some Examples: File Linking - AEC Objects 2 Point Camera Correction Modifier Panorama VR Rendering Lighting Analysis Tool

schmoron13
so do you need viz to run it?
Alex Ryan Rubio
You need VIZ 4 to be able to use the viz copy tool. you run it from there. i think this explains it.. the design visualization tools dnt require viz 4 to install viz features. (correct me if im wrong).
