Chad Warner
Hi all. So far spent about 4 hours modeling, 3 hours Viz work. Have to be done this afternoon, so any comments would be great. -Chad
pmanahan
Looks very nice. How did you achieve the grass? Thanks
schmoron13
Looks very nice. How did you achieve the grass? Thanks looks like vray displacement, right?
Ricardo Eloy
Hey, Chad! I like the grass, but it's a tad too tall. Try it lower, it's looking like those grass hair dolls you buy in Safeway.... ;-) Anyway, imho you should crop the lower part of the image, getting rid of a part of the grass (just a comp oppinion). Chad Warner
Yes. VRay displacement grass. I will have to get the lawnmower out. The only reason the image shows that much grass is I am trying to fill up a 24"x36" board, so I am not sure how to deal with that. Thanks! -Chad
skogskalle
nice image.... very impressive for 7 hours of work! maybe you could add some clouds (a photo instead of the gradient sky)... oh, and I think you should follow Rick´s advice on cropping. You can allways show a little more sky. That often looks better than showing a lot of ground...
kingeldar
do agreee with what was said above 1 very nice work considering time spent on it 2 more sky less ground always better
ishpalsingh
great rendering i would like to c the map u used for displacement
Chad Warner
Here is the final image. I cut the grass, and panned the image up so there is more sky. Thanks again for the crits. -Chad
Brian Cassil
Nice! You applied the critiques perfectly. BTW, what kind of building is it? Just about every neighborhood here in Utah has one building that's very similar. ;]
kingeldar
Nice! You applied the critiques perfectly.hmmm i would have removed a few ground giving more sky for now ur composition is almost like 33% ground 33% building 33% sky (indeed it's closer to 40/30/30... ) i think that image would be great with sumetin like 50% sky 35% building 15% ground that's the way i would take a picture of such a scene in real world... (indeed i would just resize image removing a large strip at bottom) IMO a question... is ther many peugeot 406 in real USA cause in cg from american artists i can see a lot of peugeot 406 (here the white one) i know rpc and some others sell that modell but is it real? do you American peops really buy that car? no i can not believe it considering the hugest motor is a small v6 when u use to run mostly huge v6 or even v8... (a bit off topic i know... ))
Chad Warner
BTW, what kind of building is it? Just about every neighborhood here in Utah has one building that's very similar. ;] It's not a church if that's what you are wondering (in case you forgot, I came from Utah!) It's a gymnasium on an army base. That's why the landscaping is pretty sparse. (no plants within 30' of the building) As far as the peugeot, I know I have seen that brand of car around before, I don't about the specific model though. It makes for a nice mid-range car in renderings. -Chad
Fran
Excellent work, Chad. I wish I could do exteriors like that, but I've given up on the idea.
Chad Warner
Believe me, I'm glad you don't do exteriors, because then I would definitely have to find something else to do. -Chad
IC
That really is a huge improvement. The only thing that I think stands out is the blue panels. If they are glass, they look too reflective. Bit of bump might help.
