Victor Erthal
Hi there! im thinking about building some rendernodes (a humble render farm) and somethings are not clear to me. 1-is the cache size important for a cpu that is going to run EXCLUSIVELY render? 2-Also, the ram size... 512mb is enough or 1gb would change drastically the performance? Thanks in advance.
Chad Warner
Depending on the program you use to render, get as much RAM as possible. More than 1 Gb if possible. I'm not sure about the cache size on the CPU. -Chad
mtutaj
what software are you planning on using? Mike
graphix
I would not worry too much about the CPU cache. I would invest the money in a faster CPU. As for ram...... I render using the built in VIZ 4 engine and such and for the "average" model improved rendertimes drop like a rock after 1GB. now if you are doing REALLY REALLY complex renderings you may want to look at 2GB. hope this helps 15 machines strong. graphix
Victor Erthal
I am going to use max, at first with Final render and v-ray. Others might come but this is goig to be used more frequently for a while.
