Thats not done in post effects i dont reckon. Volumetrics are really easy in viz if you use the online help. The default settings are vrey misleading, so you have to change one or two things. Main things to look out for are the 'start' and 'finish' perameters and to drop the intensity from 5 (default) to about 0.2 . But I dont think this is the advice your lookinmg for. I cant think of a good way to do volumetrics in photoshop.

Myron, I dont think that the volumetric effect can be done in Photoshop like the one in your image. I have seen that it is done directly in max or Viz using the light effect rollout and adding "volumetric effect" on specific light.

Typical in Viz, it has alot of variables and stuff that you can thinker with, but you can get some coll effects.
