CS crash...

Recommended Posts

Hi Craig

A collegue and friend of mine had similar problems with Photoshop CS. He was running out of disc space on the drives he had assigned as scratch disks. Once he cleaned out the problem stopped...

Was that Any help?

I've had the same problem quite frequently when using PS7 but I don't think it was the programs fault.

I have a usb card reader for my digital camera, and if I don't disable that device (you know, the 'safely remove hardware' feature) then it will cause my computer to restart at any given moment.

So when I do need to use it, I enable the device, get what I need from my card, and stop it again. Works perfectly as long as I remember to do that.

Also seems like it crashes mostly when I have Photoshop open though, and thats why I'm telling you about my experience - just in case you have a similar situation.

Shot in the dark, but I hope it helps.

Almost a year later from the last post, and still some sort of problem with PS-CS. Our IT department install CS when I recieved my new computer. My CS crashes many times a day, especially when using the magic wand tool. It's driving me crazy. I have dual 3.4 processors w/ HT, and 4 gigs of Ram. Just thought I would share my frustration..

Until CS, I in the 10 years working in the industry have never once seen PS crash. Now, it seems to crash at least several times a week. The machines we have at work are very tightly controlled so there is nothing but the bare minumum on the machines and they crash all the time. The copy I have at home with more crap that any one computer should have to deal with never crashes. The only difference in hardware is that one is an Intel Dell and the one at home is an AMD. All I know is that the magic wand has caused more crashes for us than anything else.

Get the 'multiprocessor patch'. That fixes the Wand problem

Just what how much diskspace and RAM do you have anyway?...a program usually crashes if your system cant handle it...so you might want to get an upgrade, a lot cheaper than getting a new machine...or your system might be infected by some kind of virus or something, so you could reformat your harddisk.
