Hi,

I need to know from your experiences with Viz4,

is this software stable? because currently I use viz 3 and I found quite a lot of

annoying experience, such as corrupted file, auto shutdown, unrecovereable object etc.

and what are the plugins included, and are there a lot of free plugin we can use and download outside?

thanks!

No, Viz4 is not very stable, only slightly more than Viz3 I must say.

As part of my work with it I accustomed a habit of making a backup copy every time I save my work. This was due to the habit of Viz3 to crash while saving and erasing the file in the process.

Things are getting really unstable when using radiosity. Even with models that are no very complicated.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great tool for architectural visualization, especially for AutoCAD oriented offices, but that sometimes come with anguish and pain.

I'm recently looking into Max6 which was promised to be stable, although I had some crashes with it also.

Since I believe Viz2005, that was announced today, is based on Max6 I hope that stability was in mind when creating this product.

dunno whether the problem is with the hardware

but i remember when i used a spare computer, it happen also, although not that often with mine (maybe compare to the period of time, I used spare computer only for 3 weeks)

the peak happen when my HD is crash, it's a scasi HD. First time it was recoverable, the second time it completely dead, I have to buy another hard disk. So far, the error not really major, it's like sometime the file auto shutdown or hang, usually once happen, it will repeat few times a day....

I recall my computer is still Pentium 3 dual processor, got 1 G Ram,

graphic card elsa gladiac if i'm not wrong, and i think it's 32/64

HD capacity, last time only 17, now 73 G..

anyone know whether this configuration affect the 3d studio viz perfomance?
