isagreg
I know that AutoCAD solids can be converted to 2d line drawing with 'solprof' command. Is there a tool for converting meshes (surfaces) to 2d? For example I have a 3d model built in MAX. I export the model as a 3ds (or dxf). Then I need to get elevations from 3d model... How can I do that? Thanks in advance.
Eric
If you have Autodesk Architectural Desktop, do a search for Sections in the help file.
ltravisjr
Do you have AutoCAD 2005 and its Express Tools installed? If so, the "flatten" command will work on a mesh so you can, for instance, turn a ball into a pancake. Perhaps the flatten Express Tool of earlier AutoCAD versions would work as well but I am using 2005 right now so that is all I can test it on. -Larry
emen
you have to do most of the job in max - convert it to editable mesh -then select all at the edge level and 'make shape from selection'. your shape will be a editable spline (if nececery change splines to lines) then export selection to .dwg NOT 3ds and open it with cad -and a wire mesh consiting normal lines will apear...uff good luck
