Frosty
I'm currently researching requirements for a new image I've been asked to produce. Its a small marina developement which will require many boats to be docked at the marina. However, I have been unable to locate any smallish recreational boats from my usual sources. Does anyone know of a library of boats that can be purchased? ex: http://www.gullguard.com/images/after12.jpg ex: http://www.epa.gov/oar/oaqps/gr8water/xbrochure/images/recboat.gif ex: http://www.relocateclearlake.com/houston_bayarea/1614e.jpg ex: http://gastropod_ca.tripod.com/picts/Kenora2.jpg
Ernest Burden III
A few years ago I bought a collection from http://www.abscissa.net They were very good. But you have to fix normals by hand if you want them all pointing the same way. I think there was a thread about boat models last year...search for it. Frosty
Thats pretty near perfect! thanks Ernest. Do you have any idea how long they took to ship?
Josh1587140445
It was probably my post about boats that Ernest was talking about. It really didn't get me very far. I did get one pretty good sail boat though.
Ernest Burden III
Thats pretty near perfect! thanks Ernest. Do you have any idea how long they took to ship? It's been several years, so no, I don't remember. But I just checked the CD and it only has about 18MB on it, so I bet they could just email the collection to you (in pieces) or post it to an FTP site. The files are layered, so it was easy to turn off some of the un-necessary detail to keep polycount down.
Frosty
I'm a little affraid of the DWGs. Cinema doesnt handle those so well all of the time. I would feel much better with DXF. I'll know more about the job int he next few days and email the producers. If its only 18MB, it sure would be a shame to wait for a CD by international shipping. Fermi Bertran
Hi Frosty, The link Ernest pointed is held by Jeff, who happen to be a very nice person, I don't think he'll have great problem sending the files as DXF, if you think his stuff is suitable email him: info@abscissa.net If you need specific models he may custom model them for you. I've recently used his boats for a project: http://autodesk.blogs.com/photos/viz_gallery/viz_2005_vray_renderer2.html http://autodesk.blogs.com/photos/viz_gallery/viz_2005_vray_renderer6.html http://autodesk.blogs.com/photos/viz_gallery/viz_2005_vray_renderer5.html
Chad Warner
If you need specific models from the collection faster than a CD can be sent, just ask and he will email you them. I also bought the boat collection a few years back and use them all the time. -Chad
Ernest Burden III
I'm a little affraid of the DWGs. Cinema doesnt handle those so well all of the time. I wasn't aware that Cinema EVER handled DWGs. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but C4D does not read .dwg files.
Frosty
You're right Ernest, I had the Import/Export abilities of Cinema and FormZ mixed up. Thanks so much to everyone for the information. It should make everything a lot simpler.
