STRAT
Hi guys I've created a few semi realistic animated water shaders for you to freely download and use. I've rendered them with 3 different backrounds in 5 different environmental conditions just to give you some variation to (hopefully) suit your scene. They were created in Rel 8.5, with no radiosity/GI switched on and no HDR maps. So basic scan line shaders that work equally well with GI mode too. Water 01, 04 and 05 have a separate animated water bump map which is included within the zip files. The easiest way to use them is to MERGE the shader file into your own scene, then drag and drop the material from the water object onto your own water object in your new scene. This way the same material/mapping properties will be transfered over too. (dont forget to erase the old water shader once finished with!) The red globe is only added to add a touch of excitement. Also, you may find it easier to right-click-save-target-as on the links provided under the images. Any problems then dont hesitate to contact me. Enjoy! leed
Strat Thanks for the tex. I do not know what it is but I can not view the files posted, I get a 'Page not available' error Perhaps it is to busy, I will try later. Great textures though. Have you not got any 'proper' work to do. Lee

Ernest Burden III
That's damned decent of you, Stephen, thank you! I have long admired your water. Now I will have to study your files to better understand C4D materials.
STRAT
cheers Ernest. the key is to predominantly use fresnel refraction in conjunction with the normal reflection channel. generally because i work proffessionally, therefore tight deadlines, i prefer not to work with SLA, HDR or other time consuming processes. i like to keep things as simple as possible. Frosty
Very sweet. Going to test them out now. Will they work in 8.2?
Frosty
It appears they do not work in 8.2. Strat, could i get a list of the settings so I can re-create the shaders in 8.2?
STRAT
hentstep - nope, ur thinking of fusion. fresnel is standard in the normal transparency channel. frosty - yup, only 8.5 :/ i could write out the mat specs but that would take some time and a couldnt do it until next week. could you possibly d/l the 8.5 demo from maxon and get them that way maybe? if not i'll try and sort something out for you. let me know. Frosty
That was a lot of messy scribbling For some reason I couldnt open the Demo and my license at the same time. Oh Well, all done now. Single zip with all 5 scene files in Cinema 8.2 format. Original files still required for maps.

stefkeB
I have translated the first scene (water, light, sky & ball) into a version 6-file, so it's usable in the free version of Cinema4D CE6 if anyone is interested. It looks almost the same and renders fast enough. I suggest users of the older versions to at least install a demo of 8.x so you can open and compare files. That's what I did
