Beginner requires simple help with adding txt to object

I have a cyliner that I want text on the side. I want the text to wrap around the outside of the cylinder and be readable.....

I can create the required sylinder and required text using simple commands but cannot work out how to wrap it round?

Also! - The text I create is also only ever the outline of the letters how do u add fill?

is the text a bitmap or real text ?

 

if its real text, add a normal modifier to it or extrude it. you can bend it to fit the cylinder using the bend modifier.

Take a look at the tutorials that ship with Max - they are quite good. There is one about texturing a winebottle - including labeling it using multi/sub materials.
