digi_archi
Hello guys. My client needs printed size of 8' by 8' (150dpi) which means it's resolution size is 14400 by 14400. And as you can imagine, I am going crazy. I have calculated radiocity the scene already. However, when I try to render it, I get an error message 'Error creating Bitmap'. I guess it conflicts with my bitmap material. Is there better way to render this huge scene? Can I divide them in quater or something? Or Should I go back and change my materials with higher resolution? Thank you so much.
Chad Warner
If you are using max or viz you can use region net render to break up the large rendering into smaller pieces. However, I would imagine anything that is to be printed 8'x8' you could get away with doing 100 dpi or even as low as 72 dpi. -Chad
visualizedconcepts
We kept having problems with region render (plenty of glass and reflections) and used the >crop TB
Crazy Homeless Guy
i agree with chad. occasionally i have requests for high res renderings for large prints. usually i render it about 65-75% of the requested resolution, then slowly re-sample the resolution in photoshop until i reach the requested size. the client never questions whether it was really rendered at that resolution, and it makes the rendering a little easier for the computer to handle. last month i had a request for this. the client sent my renderings to a printer, they removed as much of the perspective as possible, and printed out four walls to the room in the rendering at full scale. it was for a hospital icu room. i never had a chance to see the finished product. Chad Warner
Originally posted by visualizedconcepts: We kept having problems with region render Not region render, region NET render. It uses the "crop" rendering option, but splits it up into as many pieces as you like, then sends them to individual computers to render. When the crops are done, it will join them back together as one large image. It's a very nice utility. -Chad
digi_archi
Thanks guys But what about if you only have one computer? Can I still use region net render? Sorry it's such a basic question.
Chad Warner
Technically yes, but you would have to set up your machine to be both a network render manager and network render server,(look in the help file) then submit the region net render job to your own computer. It might be easier to use the "crop" option by itself, and render out the individual crops and join them later in photoshop. -Chad
