mhinks
Hi all I have just got the Quadro FX 500 with dual output and wondered if it is an advantage to use two monitors with 3ds max? Can someone surgest a good setup to get the best from the setup. Also, does anyone know if the maxtreme drivers work woth hthe 500 card. I get an error when installing asking to install a Quadro card, which I have! Thanks very much
Chad Warner
The main reason I use dual screens is to have all of my toolbars on the second monitor. That way I can maximize screen space on the primary. I would think the maxtreme drivers would work, just make sure you download the version number that is appropriate for your version of Max. -Chad
graphix
The maxtreame drivers should work just fine and really help performance, but be sure to get the ones for your card. As for monitors I like to put some of my toolbars over on the second one as well as have photoshop running to tweak/adjust a texture map on the fly. I also run my streaming audio on it to. graphix
mhinks
Thanks guys, so far I have used the suplied maxtreame drivers with the card and the latest from the Nvidia site and nither work, same error. Very anying because the performance with the 500 is bad, even compared to a grforce 4 ti 4200 which I have upgraded from. Another machine has the 1100 and it rocks! Its a shame max can not work better with dual monitors, maybe having one viewport just on one monitor and the standard 1/2/3/4 views and toolbars on the other. siliconbauhaus
I use max on dual monitors and haven't had any problems with it at all. I use a quardo 4 750 and I run it the same way as Chad does.

That is one thing I definitely wish Max would do. I guess technically you could set it up that way, just have to maximize the window across both screens, but it ends up kind of messy. -Chad
rivoli
i have a quadro4 750 on a dual xeon machine, when i installed maxtreme i haven't noticed any significant improvement compared to the last quadro drivers i had installed before. sometimes a poor performance may be cpu's fault. with another machine here at work, a single P4 3200 fire gl t2 128, i see much better performances for what is concerned with viewport manipulation. the single P4 works better than the single xeon used by max for this kind of task.
