William Alexander
Hey, Test run on a little project- Urban Housing Building- Open style 2 story loft units. Crits & comments...... WDA
Donkey81
I know it's work in progress, but it's looking rather... plasticky. Ever-so-slightly lego-ish. And I'm not too keen on the current texturing. Still, the modelling is perfectly adequate. Keep at it. Huggles, Lew
Ricardo Eloy
Nice jobe, so far. Maybe the sky colour isn't helping. It almost matches those of the building, making it kindda disappear. Try snother bg, adding more contrast to the image. Also, try to bring it to the center of your frame. It's slightly off-centre, making (IMHO) the viewer feel unconfortable. William Alexander
Thanks for the comments, The "lego-ish" feel is kind of hard to get rid of, subject building. Tweeked it back some, just hard to totally get rid of it makes the building really boring and too monolithic. imfo (f=feeble) Old bldg to the left is "match brick" and unfortunately thats the way it looks- suggestions? Changed the view, increased cam dof and new sky- terragen:D. Changed form e-light GI to radiosity and of course PS work. Please more comments.......... graphix
From a design stand point how come there are no windows on the left of the building? Adding windows there may help break up the "lego" look. Still not too fond of the sky. graphix
jtiscareno
I agree with Charles, the sky is not very interesting, get a more realistic sky, somthing with more blue or sharper. And then the reflection of the buildings in the glass should be the same as the sky. To me it sort of feels that the sky reflection of your building is diffrent than the sky background. I think that the glass needs more work, more reflection or sharper, maybe some sunglare. And at street level you need some entourage, cars with some motion blur in PS. salf
my only critic is about the architecture....but i guess it isnt yours, anyways let me tell you. Right now the building looks like a small "chunk" out of a taller building, it neither have a "start" or an "end", or in other words it doesnt have "base" nor "pinnacle" It does have a small entrance gesture that helps define the building base (the small entrance cantilever ceiling), but by the overall scale of the building this isnt enuff to define a base, also the first level facade, is the exact same as the upper floors, and it shuoldnt, considering that in the first level there isnt loft units, and if there are, thyre different fomr the upper ones, so the facade answer shouldnt be the same. Also a building should have a "pinaccle", something that tells you that the "building ends here", this building lacks of it, so it could be 8 levels, or 10 or 20 or inifinite, this pinaccle could just be a small facade gesture, not an entirely structure change or add on. All this things and others makes the building look like an "office" building, and not an apartment one. But again, this an architecture critic, not yor fault, or something you could change......unless is also your design.
William Alexander
Thanks for the comments! Salf- not into minimalist type architecture? I'm not. Took a little "artistic" license. This version is straight CG + PS Diffuse glow very minimal to bring out the sky reflection color. Sky working better? Entourage fairly believable? Thanks Again WDA
graphix
looks MUCH better. Still wanting to see windows on the left side> graphix
