smiler1973 Posted July 30, 2003 Share Posted July 30, 2003 Hi Is it possible to swap a material on an object with another without having to re apply each time, ie two materials applied to an object with different id's or channels, so when rendering a channel number or id can be selected which relates to each material. In 3ds, the materials are kept track of by their name, so all you need is to make two or more materials with the same name in the material editor. When you want to use a different, just "Put to scene" the material you want to use. You could also create a multi/sub-object material with all the different materials you would want to use, then drag and swap the material you want into channel #1.
