Smoothing curves???

Recommended Posts

This is just a quick study model for a change in the altar of a basilica, the problem that I have as you can see in the images is that the curves of the setps and the pulpit come out segmented insted of smooth.

The model is linked from Acad to Viz4 and I even applied a smooth modifier on the cruved steps and nothing.

Can someone tell me how to make the curves appear smooth???

Thanks for the help.

There are too few segments in the profiles.

The curved surface looks smooth but the profile of it is jagged - this means that you have too few segments in the curves. Try upping the segmenting in ACAD or using something like the meshsmooth modifier to add segments to the curves.

Guys, the profile is good. It looks good in Acad, it looks smooth when you use the shade command on the model.

Ras I took the segmentation in Acad way high and nothing in the Viz render. I extracted the objects from the Viz link and applied the meshsmooth modifier and it smooth everything in all directions, I end up with ronded corners in the steps.

Dibbers, I can't change the "interpolation" on the lines because the model is a link Cad model from AutoCad.

Any other suggestions guys??? The steps look good in the Viz windows but when I render them is when it comes out looking segmented???
