eafisher
I am trying to apply a material (paint color and sheen) to the roof edge style where I have defined the soffit and frieze. Viz render seems to only let me apply the style to the entire roof slab. Any tips? How do others here create soffits for rendering?

I'm not running ADT2004+ currently, your problem in most cases can be resolved by changing the "entity display color" making it corresponding with an ADT multi-sub material number or slot. In that matched (color 1=red..) slot of the material create your new color. Soffits? Adt AEC roof if it's a hip, all other including gables, solids or faces. rgrds WDA
Kerry Thompson
Hi An ADT roof slab is one object but can also have a slab edge to make the fascia and soffit. Each can carry different materials. I also use a "wall" gutter (a simple wall with a gutter profile swept along it) and pinned onto the soffit. To apply different materials to the ADT roof object, one would have export it to 3D Studio Viz/Max and apply the material to the various faces. Not so. The roof object contians ACI color info and Layer info per component, slab & edge. You can set up your material/s by layer or ACI color corresponding to a component that, though setting the entity display, is the same. Then apply the material/s to the roof object. eafisher, I normally convert the Roof into slabs and apply an edge style through the roof slab properties dialog. Although the model is primarily rendered in viz/max the function of linking materials to AEC objects and entities within that object are there. If this is all too much at this moment, explode the roof into faces and then apply your desired material/s. Save a copy of the AEC roof as a named block and erase. If you need to make changes you can insert the saved block, explode and make changes. It's possible just not simple, WDA
