GaryR50
Is anyone using the Japanese application Shade 7? http://shade.e-frontier.co.jp/en/index.html I'd be interested to read any users comments, as I am planning to buy the Standard version in July. I would be especially interested in hearing from anyone who has used it for rendering models imported from SketchUp, as that is my intended use for it. mbr
Is it a standalone renderer? I couldn't find that info or the price. Vray and Final Render are coming out with standalone renderers, also. Interesting, the competition is heating up!
GaryR50
Yes, MBR, it is, and more so than the V-Ray "stand-alone" seems to be. Shade is comepletly self-contained. The prices are there, stated in Japanese Yen. I've used a currency calculator to get the approximate US prices: the Basic edition is approx. $173.07, Standard is roughly $435.31 and Professional is about $1,293.71, plus or minus. Read the comparsion chart before ordering, as there are some features that only the Professional edition has. The rendering options, forinstance, are more complete, though radiosity exists in all three. My take on it is that is much like Cinema 4D, which also has radiosity and global illumination, all in one package. I think the quality is a little higher in Shade, though. GaryR50
Well, after downloading and installing Desktop Radiance, which is free, I'm going to save my money for something else, instead of Shade 7. Gary
