graphix
Sadly in order to upgrade from what you currently have you are looking at replacing the CPU's the motherboard, the ram, the hard drives, the graphics cards, and the power supply. at the least. Do you have a budget you need to work with? graphix
rivoli
i've never heard of someone using a pIII xeon for 3d, but it's possibly just me. as long as i know it has a low frequency, like 900-700 mhz and 100 mhz fsb, but 2mb of cache. i don't know how it would work, but at the moment people generally go for different kind of workstations, that is dual cpu machines (xeon, opeteron, mp, it's up you). this wouldn't be an upgrade anyway, you should rather invest in a new workstation. aping
currently I use 3dviz3, and encounter quite lots of unstability. that's way my office decide for upgrade, now what I'm worried about is whether my workstation can handle 3d max 6. I also suggesting to upgrade the hardware, since it's already left behind, but first of all I need to provide information about what kind of spec do I need at least to run 3d max well since my off always go for branded workstation, the cost would be enermous, so maybe what I do is partial hardware upgrade if what I need is major upgrade, maybe I should suggest them to upgrade to viz 4/5 and contribute the budget for the hardware?
