nvidia driver

Recommended Posts

hey,

i read somewhere that it benefits the performance of your computer to regularly update the driver of the graphics card. Is this true?

You can get whatever new driver you want from nVidia's website. There are also sites on the web that have beta drivers you can use.

But let me draw on years of painful experience when I tell you to just leave it alone unless you have a problem. Display drivers have been the #1 cause of instability I have seen, and they almost always result in BSOD (blue screen of death) results. Is a small performance boost worth hours or days of crashing and trial and error to ID and fix a problem?

But sometimes a new driver SOLVES a lot of problems.

So ask yourself "do I have problems, or would I like to get some?"

I just went throught this with a windows update. I wasn't thinking and check ok to install a new Nvidia driver. BOOM blue screen of death. I reinstalled old drivers and was back to work but I cannot get my dual screens to work again. I haven't had time to fix it.
