hat-rack
I am a multimedia designer but I have just recently become interested in 3d architectural modelling and am looking for work in London. I have created two visualisations with my most recent one online at http://www.bnmm.co.uk under the 3d section. I'm incredibly keen to start working in this industry and I know I need to improve on my skills. I am about to start on my third project (which is 3 townhouses on one block of land)and am confident that it will be to a very high standard. I want to know what skills people are looking for and what is the best way to get the attention of architectural companies. I would love to start working for a company in London ASAP and will do anything to get started in this industry. I'm also interested in seeing how next generation gaming technology (such as the half-life 2 engine) could create realtime walkthroughs and interactivity with objects in the world. ie: turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, usability evaluation, etc. my question is: what is the best way to get a foot in the door? Alex. ps. I goto sleep thinking of polygons and pixels.
trhoads
I would start by looking through the forums for dispalying work, that are on this website to see what everyone else's work looks like. It will give you an idea of the quality that is expected from clients and architectural firms. Your images on your webiste did not have the realism and depth that would catch the eye of a firm looking to hire. I know you are new to the industry, but you have to be able to produce just like the next person. Keep working at it, it takes a long time. I have been doing this for 5 years, and am not half as good as some of what I see in the forums here. Good luck.
