nisus
Hi all, Hi all, Can anyone explain how to save a Final Gathering Map in MR/Max6? I can't find anything on it in the manual... This is what the manual says about it... FGM File An FGM file (.fgm) is a final gather map file. It is used by the mental ray renderer to save the results of a final gathering pass. Generating and saving an FGM file can speed up subsequent renderings. rgds nisus
jucaro
Hi Nisus, Under the Indirect Illuminations Tab of the render Dialogue, check (enable) Rebuild, then check (enable) Use File...(Enter Filename here) In subsequent renderings, just uncheck the Rebuild (Do Not Re-Use Cache) so that MR will use the file assigned in "Use File..." nisus
Hi jucaro, So the first timemax will save the file and afterwards it will load that file? Very strange, especially because it uses a real/written 'save' and 'load' just a few lines above... I wonder why the makers choose two different ways to do the same thing... Anyway, tnx, I'll try it tonight ,-) Rgds nisus
joske
a real/written 'save' and 'load' just a few lines above... this is for the photon map the one below is for the Fgather file keep in mind that the fgahter is calculated from the camera viewpoint, so moving the camera and/or moving or changing objects in the scene will make a rebuild needed knowing that it still puzzels me what the real use is for the 'use file'... who is going to re-render the same scene twice...?? :{
