Daf
Hi All, I am having a hard time finding any good (up to date) 3d forums - especially 3ds Max related. The Discreet forum is good but the pages seem to take for ever to load for me...this limits the amount of time I want to spend there of course Can any of you suggest some good forums - like this one - for 3d artwork, software and techniques? Thanks Daf
mbr
http://www.cgtalk.com is pretty good, although I rarely browse through the naked women models...;-) http://www.computerlove.net is a great resource for graphic design and you can search for graphics based on technique (like 3D, motion graphics, etc.). You'll find some great stuff, you just have to dig. Marcos Novak, a professor that I had at UCLA that inspired me to pursue my own 3D (beyond architecture) his creations can be seen at: http://www.centrifuge.org/marcos/ http://www.archilab.org/public/2000/catalog/novak/novaken.htm http://www.neural.it/english/marcosnovak.htm You are welcome to look at mine, too http://www.mbrstudios.com > Design > Graphic
Daf
Those look like good sites/forums - thanks! I enjoyed looking through both your and Mr. Novak's galleries as well - thanks for that, too. Daf

Ernest Burden III
Marcos Novak, a professor that I had at UCLA that inspired me to pursue my own 3D (beyond architecture)... Thanks for that! I am always interested in visionary architecture and graphical representations. His work is great. A lot of it is very much like Lebb Woods, but that is not a bad thing. I am giving a talk this fall on visionary architecture and I was hoping to find some new material to present along with the usual suspects. I also have a company that is going to be publishing that sort of artwork, so again, more artists to talk to is good. As for forums, there are too many of them for me to be able to participate in. I usually stick to one or two and am very active in them. CGTALK is great in terms of it being so big that there are people from every angle of the digital art world. But it also is very impersonal, and the forum does not enforce stuff like peole having a real name or location so it can be as chaotic as any internet group where people can hide behind handles. I prefer the atmosphere here. But the work presented on CGTALK is some of the best in the world.
mbr
Ernest, would you mind telling me the name of the company interested in publishing the abstract 3D? I am *hopefully* going to be doing some more soon and I'd like to get stuff out there and in galleries again (not that I have a lot, but soon...). In case people aren't aware, there was a big 'movement' in the graphic world and everyone and his brother were beginning abstract 3D stuff. So people created a lot of the same and a lot of cr*p. Needless to say, it made a bad taste in peoples mouth. Thankfully, I believe that it's passed and those of us who enjoy doing can do it without being lumped into a pile. Really it should have been up and running a year ago. But I have been too busy with my day job as architectural renderer to get the last 10% together to get the site up. The idea is to use the web to provise an outlet for sales of archival art prints of visionary drawing (mostly architectural), illustarion of various types, and, just because I am enjoying the collecting, antique archtectural photography (I have several hundred photos, mostly from the late 1800's). I have a few examples of the sort of work that will be available on a 'gallery' site-exhibit only, no sales (not updated this century) http://www.architecturalvisions.com but the site that will be selling prints is http://www.oreally.com See, I start 100 things and can't get them completed.
