Making verticals...vertical

I have been doing an image....see attached, but the architect is moaning saying that he wants all the verticals to appear vertical and not sloping in.

I am a newcomer to Max and used Microstation before, it was easy you just set the camera to 2 point perspective.

Is there any-way to achieve this in max?

Thanks

There are 2 ways:

One is to use the camera correction modifier... which I have never used.

The other way is to simply make sure your target is level with your camera then set your render output so that you see everything you want to see either on the top or bottom. You will probably be seeing more of either the top or bottom but you can than simply render region and clip the eccess out or crop it out in photoshop.

Hope this helps!

Hi Adam,

If you use a target camera, you can set the camera and target at the same height and use panning and cropping to get the view you want. Whenever the target is looking up or down from the camera, you will get parallax. I find that using the camera correction modifier causes distortion, especially if you were to try to use it to correct the view you posted.

[err...what Brian said. :)]

I am a Final Render user and there are fR Cameras (tons of them, most I've never tried). The Architectural Camera keeps verticals parallel - REALLY helpful!! I used to have to do the 'keep target and camera on same level', but now I don't! Yay!! Sorry, it's just limiting as I am sure you will find out.

Not that it helps, but it's a tool I've started to use with everything and one more reason I like my fR investment.

I thought Max 6 had the camera modifier thing? And doesn't Viz come with an architectural camera?

if ur using MAX6 just select the camera source, right click and choose the option camera correction,

The Camera Correction modifier is exactly what you want. Just don't use it for animations, since it doesn't update automatically.
