smoke3dstudio
This is my 1st environment scene. I have done only the foreground and may have to adjust some materials. I use standard light in max 5, the rendering time of 512*512 is about 22 sec. almost 350000 faces counted. I may try Vray for the complete scene. http://www.smoke3dstudio.com/thai3dviz/bark01.jpg http://www.smoke3dstudio.com/thai3dviz/bark.jpg
William Alexander
STUNNING!!!!! & WOW Question/s- Using projector map/s for Direct lighting? Using two lights for direct? The top right has the best effect of lighting, it maybe just me, but is there something a little off between the White & Yellow of the lighting (bright GI & True direct). Can't pin point it to explain better, what do you think? On the broad leaves are you using anything special like a falloff for the specular? Having read your tutorials, I can see how it's all model'd and yet the level of realism is stunning, a masterful blend of materials, lighting, modeling. rgrds WDA
smoke3dstudio
Thanks man!! There are 4-5 omni lights in the scene as this is just a light test. You are correct that I use dent map as projector map for sunlight. Most of the leaves material are gradient ramp but no fall off. and I choose "scratch.jpg" for specular map of big leaves :)

William Alexander
Montree If you get any more talented you are going to simply explode. PLEASE DON'T!!!!! We need you to keep inspiring us with your work! Modeling question, (I'm feeling Inspired) - Palm frons did you poly model from something like edge /extrude or is it a converted spline? p.s. really like the mapping (opacity) for the holes in the leaves outstanding detial! brgrds WDA

behemoth
Looking really good. Could use a bit more details where the coconut leaves join the trunk. But your frangipanni is excellent. You going to show us the entire tree?

You going to show us the entire tree? Thanks, Yes and I am setting up a scene with all the plant that I draw, in. What I imagine is that I will try to create an environment scene with a little tropical architecture and landscape sense. :)
smoke3dstudio
The wireframe of the very first plants This is another closed-up view of the flower. I still need to adjust the proportion of the leaf and the flower. The closed-up view and texture of the trunk. In the mean time, i am also drawing a new trunk but havn't finished it.
