Condo building WIP pls comment

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a condo building in FL. The project includes 3d flyaround and still images.

I'm looking forward for some comments on this prilimenary still rendering.

The part that I can't change is the architecture of the building itself... (unfortenutely :( )

The stills would be printed out on 60in x 30in and mounted on foamcore board.

animation would be included on interactive DVD presentation.

I'm still working on animation part ( rpc's mostly). but the cool part with realistic water and boats rocking on waves is done.... i'll post some progress animations later.

here are one of still shots and close up

First here is a question....

I assume the challenge is to create a scene that is detailed enough for a big print but economical so you can render out an animation in a reasonable amount of time? Or would you create two different files?

My comments are that the building doesn't atract my eye, the trees and foliage do, the building blends in with the sky. There is not a good sense of where the sun light is coming from, the sky and the location say sunny but the feel is that it is overcast. I would darken the shadows on the building, create an interior structure behind the windows, careful of the shadows on the windows, though they are faint, windows don't receive shadows unless they are dirty or partly opaque. I would like to see the sail boat sails white. My comments are for a still image and may not apply as much for an animation.

Overall, nice job.

The building needs some specular light or something. Look at the ss minnow ao the left it's bright and shiny ( sunny ) and the structure being mostly glass has no specular highlights, (london fog).

The architecture, show off the glass & reflections make it kind of "miami bauhaus"!? Show more of the interior or last least the dark shadows mentioned previously. Make it feel like a cool comfortable place to be in the Florida Sun.

Working on being a really good rendering, kind of has a 'purple haze' feeling, it's cool.

I'd make some really simple furniture, or even map a book case or something to a rectangular mass - it needs something to liven up the interiors of the condos. I agree with the other posts, but if you had a little more detail to the insides of the condos, it may draw your eye there.

I like the bluish feel, but it may be a little too ambiguous, almost like there is fog rolling in (and if so, you could use the sun to your advantage). Maybe a sky with more distinguishable clouds would break things up a little (with the reflections). Just a thought, though, I am not sure.

Just details, it looks really nice. Can't wait to see that animation! 60x30 is pretty damn big!

How long are the frames taking?

Nice renders, sadly the building itself is horrible, so it takes away some of your credit on teh rendering, however you could improve the building look with what others have said.

It looks like a corporate office building in the middle of the "blue lagoon" island.

I do think that your water is way too blue though.

Thanks guys...

i agree with every single one of you ...

there is a possibility that a lot of that "office" looking building going to dissapear ... so this whole rendering might be on hold till the architect and the client will agree on the exterior design ...

that is why i have very boxy looking thing for building ...(didn't want to waste my time on something that would change ...)

thanks again ...
