Ace_Face
hi evrybody i want 2 place a picture in my scene and i have a few from archicads library, the only problem is theyre not so pretty and i dont know how to replace the image (like u would a material map) Go to Options > Materials... Select Texture at the bottom of the materials pallet. From the texture dialog box select Search... to find the texture (picture) you want to replace and map it. Make sure you copy the texture into your library and reload you libraries. File > Load Libraries... See the attached screen capture.
only3d
Tnx Tom, youre a life saver! i wanted 2 change the image for a gdl object picture (which has limited images 2 offer) but your way is as good. i know how to do it in max & ADT but i didnt know u can perform it here as well...(how dumb of me) so double thanks! till next time :-)
Ace_Face
No problem. Glad to hear it worked for you. You could also do it for a GDL object but you have to open the object and edit the material manually in the script. by calling the texture or adding a parameter. Not hard but you need a little bit of GDL scripting knowlege to do it.

Ace_Face
Unfortunately, although i would love to, i have none. any ideas where i could pick it up? There's the GDL Cookbook written by David Nicholson-Cole. You can look that up on Amazon or anyplace like that. He also has an experimental electronic book on the web. You could also check out the GDL Alliance.

only3d
hi again ace on the same subject- i cant controll the picture fitting into the size i want it 2 b. i want it 2 b 1/2.8 m but (as all materials) it has a mind of its own. of course i defined the wall 2 b that size and i also fiddled with the sizing of tiles in the texture editing but no response. i know in adt it has an option - fit to object which works perfect. so is there an option like that here? any different idea would b just fine p.s. do u have any idea wat is that bleechy streek on the floor, its not a shade i know that 4 sure (canceled all light sources and still there) tnx in ad vance

Ace_Face
hi again ace on the same subject- i cant controll the picture fitting into the size i want it 2 b... The texture mapping is set using the mapping panes (see attached image) For instance; If you are mapping a CMU wall texture use the number of units vertical and horizontal. ie. 6 vert. at 8" each=48" and 4 horiz. at 16" each=64". You may have to turn off the checkbox for "Keep original proportion". Finally you can change the tiling method for mirroring or tiling 4 differnt ways using the radio buttons (bottom center of the dialog box). You should also set your model to be an accurate distance from 0,0 so the tiling is dead on from the corner of the wall. The problem you are experiencing with the white lines is due to two slabs occupying the same space with different textures. Check to see if you have a duplicate slab with a white material applied to it. The sun shadows in your other post is strange. Check your rendering effects and turn shadow accuracy to the highest setting, (see if that works).
