Need Help with radiosity

Recommended Posts

hey manuel,

i'm not an expert at radiosity, but turn on the "regather indirect illumination" under the rendering parameters. see how that renders. from there, you'll probably have to increase the number of rays per sample. i think i'm usually around 200 or so.

i'd also change you exposure to logarithmic. not sure why though. are you using the IES sun as the light source?

you are getting close to having it all work out...

the artifacts you are getting on the wood frames are probably from indirect light hitting the wood bumpmap. not sure why, but MAX/VIZ always seems to do this. go to the material and lower the indirect bump mapping. if it is not a advanced lighting material yet, just turn it into one. (hit the button @ the arrow, select adv light mat, keep map as sub whatever)

you could also just lower the overall bump map, but the effect would be lost. not that big of a deal IMO.

i dont think its too washed out. try putting a chair or something in there for reference. you may have to change the exposure to exterior daylight as well...

Chuck,

Also I tried to remove artifacts as best i could. But I'm using the viz renderer that ships with Architectural desktop 2005. The office won't spring for a standalone modeling and rendering package. so alot of the advanced material features are absent.

que sera, sera.

thanks,

m
