hello

i have a file (the terrain) and i have to put 300 equal xrefs and move/rotate them individually.

i know how to xref 1 file, bind an object and rotate/move it.

How I do for include the 300 xrefs in one step, (not doing 300 times the same) ??

cause i cant copy/array the inserted xref.

thx

There's an easier way to do it if you have an AutoCAD drawing that contained the original objects - and this is the MAIN reason behind the changes to File Import and File Link made to MAX 6/VIZ 2005.

If you did the AutoCAD model correctly, your houses will be blocks. If they're blocks, when they are imported into MAX, they're converted into Block Hierarchies. Select one of them, add a Substitute Modifier, in the XRef section choose your object and voilá: you have 300 houses.

Hope this helps,

Alexander

yes, my original file is from AutoCAD : The house. = 400 kb. when i import in max and texture its = 1 mb. , i think i have to delete faces for less weight...

where i see "Block Hierarchies".... there is nothing to select...

and how i apply a "Substitute Modifier"

please, your help can save my life... thanks

If you do not know how to apply a modifier, what's File Link, I simply would suggest that you insert them as Xref Objects instead of XRef Scenes. That way you can clone them inside of MAX as many times as you need.

The only drawback is that the houses will need to has as few objects as possible.
