Manuel Rivera
I have a problem, moving drf files between Viz Render 2004, and 2005. Contacted AutoDesk, they've yet to respond. Called our distribtor, they're lost. Has anyone else run into this?
Kerry Thompson
Just open it in Viz 5 and resave it to a new file name - it seems to upgrade the file format. Once opened in Render Viz 5, you cannot open it in 4. You may also find the nature of the nature of any file linking also changes.
Manuel Rivera
That's the problem. I'm the only one in the office with 2005. Our distributor said that 2005 was backwards compatible, dwg's work fine, drf's (from viz) obviously can only be opened at my station. If we want multiple people to work on different referenced files, it becomes a nightmenre!!
Kerry Thompson
From the AutoDesk Web Site: 6. Is Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005 compatible with earlier releases of Autodesk Architectural Desktop? Earlier versions of Autodesk Architectural Desktop are compatible with the current release; that is, designs created in earlier versions easily migrate to the current release. Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005 is backward compatible with Architectural Desktop 2004 at the object level (AEC objects used in Architectural Desktop). Architectural Desktop 2005 and 2004 are not backward compatible with earlier releases of Architectural Desktop at the object level, but files created in these versions can be saved as DWG files to be read by versions of Autodesk Architectural Desktop based on AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, and 2002 platforms. Looks as if the Viz Render is the only part that causes an issue. Cheers Kerry
