I don't think I've ever had that particular rendering problem. But since you have tried the materials and the camera, I would bet your problem is with the lights. Probably a shadow map with the settings too coarse. Render the image with the shadows turned off to check.

Whenever you have a problem like this, you just need to start changing one setting at a time until you isolate the problem. This process is one of the best ways to learn the details of Max.

Good luck.

It could be a shadow problem. Have you tried rendering with just a basic floor with no raytrace? If those spots still show up then its a shadow problem. If they go away then its a raytrace problem.

If it is a raytrace issue, try turning on super sampling, use the default one, the max 2.5 star. This adds some time to your render, but it can fix issues like that. If that doesn't work try playing with your settings. Try applying a basic raytrace material with no texture and see if that works. If it does then you know its a texture issue and not a raytrace issue.

Try using instead of a raytrace material, use the flat mirror. Not only will this speed up your rendering, but you will get the same effect since it's a flat surface your appying it to.

If none of these work, then just start playing with your settings. If you still cannot fix it then post your settings on this forum so I can see what you are trying to do.
