wood rendering

I just finished creating the model for a complex traditional looking space, with crown mouldings, and round dome opening, with trims, etc.

the problem im running into, and this always happens.

I cant get wood to render correctly. I have a dark anigre wood, supposed to look very dark brown, but after radiosity, i get a very light red or brown.

I have tried applying a radiosity override, with reduced reflectance scale, nothing.

anybody have any suggestions?

I would suggest taking it into photoshop and adjusting the color in there. It is always nicer to get your color nailed down in your 3D program but photoshop will do it very quickly and you can save your layers for later use.

yea, i will give that a try, i was just frustrated that you cant do that in viz. I mean, if you give the material the correct reflectance, why doesnt it render correctly?

a client gave me a piece of wood sample, and it should be pretty easy to just scan it and use it.

Try this in Viz:

Click on the diffuse slot for your wood texture. Then expand the Output rollout. Select "Enable Color Map." Then click on the right hand grip of the graph line and drag it down. You should see the wood map getting darker and the reflectance numbers dropping. You may have to test render and readjust a couple of times. Hope this helps.
