Ernest Burden III
http://www.research.philips.com/InformationCenter/Global/FArticleSummary.asp?lNodeId=807&channel=807&channelId=N807A2336 According to the maker, no 'sweet spots' and NO GOGGLES! Very promising. The part about using software to interpret depth by analysing adjacent pixels seems a bit strange. Making 3D video isn't hard. You still would need the system to be able to accept true 3D input. In this case that seems as easy as a driver to address certain pixels in the display. I have these 3D glasses that came with one of my video cards once, and the driver works by doing a quick LRLRLRLR, so it won't work on an LCD display with their refresh rates of 60Mhz (1/2 of 60 per eye = awful flicker). This Phillips system would use the full refresh rate (though lower pixel count per 'eye').
