trhoads
Hello all, I have been told that adding a dirt map to a rendering that I am working on, would help loose some of the "too clean" feel. Does anyone have a way to do this without another program? I have seen other programs that do this, but purchasing another program is not an option. I am using VIZ 3i, yes I know, I need to get with the times, but I would really like to explore this option, just not sure how. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Brian Cassil
What I usually do is to create a blend material. Put your primary material in the first slot (paint, stucco, or whatever) and use smoke or noise in the mask slot. Then in the second slot put in a copy of the primary material (again the paint, stucco, or whatever) mixed with a generic dirt, concrete, or other blotchy ugly bitmap. You can use the mix map type for this. This sounds a little confusing typed out like this, if I have time I'll create a little diagram of how this would work. Peppi
Possibly you mean something that is called "Ambient Occlusion"? See here http://perso.wanadoo.fr/ronchin.basket/umxprime/tutorials/AO/index.htm or http://www-viz.tamu.edu/students/bmoyer/617/ambocc/ for more information
bigcahunak
Travis, you might wanna check back Jeff's links to some of the old 3dtotal tut links. Most of them old tuts deal with dirtying up textures.
