bigcahunak
For MAX you must download an extra package, which I dont remember its name, but I think its the same for both versions 5 and 6. VIZ has it built in. BTW: I just answered that same question on our local forum, which I bevlieve you know where its at.
fatNjazzy
thank u, i red that. as far as i know, the extension for max 5.1 is totaly free, in apose to v6 that u got to have a subscription membership. i came to conclusion that i must use it in order to work only once. does anyone knows where i can get the 5.1 extension free? 10q
bigcahunak
I dont think its free. It should be, though.
Ricardo Eloy
As far as I remember, the Design Extension Utilities plugin was also part of the subscription program from Discreet. Give your reseller a call for more info on that.
Crazy Homeless Guy
...for 6 it is part of the subscription package. i have been contacted 3 times by different people off of list askign me to email it to them. since it is part of the subscription package, it is technically not free for 6 as far as i am concerened, so i do not send it to them. don't know about 5. abicalho
MAX 5 will not read AutoCAD 2004 DWGs. You'll need to save as 2002 to be able to link/import. If you update to MAX 6 and purchase Subscription, you'll be able to get File Link Extension for MAX 6 and it will natively read AutoCAD 2004 file formats.
