MegaPixel
We've recently added a few Windows 7 Pro servers to our render farm network which is a mix of Win. Xp and Win. XP 64 machines. I've got them both so that they are on our network and can see roughly "Half" of the machines on our network, but not the other half - It's almost like the network discovery isn't working? And... each Windows 7 computer sees a different amount of network PC's... They are both currently part of a "Work Group" (not a Home Group) and share the same workgroup name as all of the other network pc's - file and printer sharing is on and all of that. Luckily they can see the Manager PC so that they can participate in the Network renders. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to clean up this Network setup? Thanks - Mega
Lester_Masterson
Make sure all of the privacy settings have been turned off ( ie: password protected sharing, 128 bit encryption ), and turn ON Public folders (under Home workgroup, NOT Public). I have been able to have all of my Win7 machines see each other and the XP Server. However, my problem is that after a period of time, the other XP machines stop seeing everything. Perhaps you know how to resolve this one???? Good Luck
MegaPixel
The weird thing is, I can see the Windows 7 machines just fine from other Windows XP32 and Windows XP64 computers - just not all of them. That makes me think that the Windows 7 machines might already be adequately setup, and that perhaps there might be something different about the other windows XP machines that is causing an issue?
