jinsley
As stated in the title... I would like to use Revit to track and control mechanical/ electrical systems in real-time. I am wondering what 3rd party apps, etc are necessary for this or if Revit isn't the answer to this problem at all... Any suggestions would be more than welcome. THx in advance! -JI
Sketchrender
I presume you have looked at Navisworks seems like the only one. Good to see an engineer using it by the way. phil As stated in the title... jinsley
Good to see an engineer using it by the way. phil haha, not quite... just interested. I am more looking for building management software that would be installed with sensor equipment and be used to monitor mech., elec., etc on an ongoing basis. Barringtonarch
hi, I'd say this is a bit out of the reach for Revit at the moment, you would be able to build a 3rd API plugin to do it though. or yes try Navisworks
jsmarshall
I performed the implementation of REVIT MEP across our building services practice and delivered our first job. We now have a proper team and delivering full construction building services documentation completely in REVIT MEP We have full Mech and Elec systems built with air quantities, circuiting, db loads etc. From what i have seen in the industry, we are one of the very few that are doing this for building services as most competitors still use Autocad as a brace. jinsley
you are using revit to monitor the mech/ elec systems in a real-time situation? or you used Revit to design them?
jsmarshall
We are doing all the building services design including all associated parameters. I just re-read your post correctly but i am not sure why you would want to monitor through REVIT in real-time? Is the purpose of this - A Building Management System? There is no 3rd party plug that i know of to do this.
jinsley
I was just wondering if it is was possible using Revit. I am not an advanced Revit user and I was hoping that someone here might be able to offer some insight into the topic of building Management. The purpose is Building Management for a large site containing many buildings.
jsmarshall
IMHO a dedicated BMS system would be much more effective/efficient than running a 3rd Party plug and the overhead of REVIT. Cheers
jinsley
Yeah, that what we decided in the end... Thx for the input.
